OVERVIEW
Indian Railways has continued to usher into era of modernization with modern stations, modern trains and modern technology. The authority has now set the ball rolling for the modernization and re-development of 199 railway stations across the nation.
The recent introduction of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aims to enhance and modernize railway stations throughout the Indian Railways network. The scheme currently intends to upgrade and modernize a total of 1275 stations across the Indian Railway system. Within this initiative, 18 stations from the Sonpur Division and 20 stations from the Samastipur Division have been singled out for attention.
The government also intends to introduce 400 Vande Bharat trains during the next five years. The target is also to replace the conventional coaches of all express and mail trains with LHB and other modern Indian-made coaches.
Indian Railways undergoing dynamic growth with world-class railway stations like airport – Habibganj Railway Station, Gandhinagar Railway station, Sir M Visvesvaraya Railway Terminal in Bengaluru. While the modernization work on upgrade at many railway stations has begun, work at some of the others will begin soon, the investment is being made in improving passenger experience and revenues. Underling the importance of evolving with technology, the Railway Minister recently said that technology is the only input which can significantly impact the future of the Railways.
